What is far infrared radiation?

Far infrared radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that provides efficient and natural heat transfer. Each Sundirect heater is based on this type of heating element, which imitates the principle of a classic oven - a body with a higher temperature transfers energy to a colder body using electromagnetic radiation, without directly heating the surrounding air.
Infrared radiation is divided into three categories:
- Near infrared radiation – high filament temperature above 1800 °C, intense radiation that mainly heats the surface;
- Medium-wave infrared radiation – filament temperature around 1000 °C;
- Far infrared radiation – lower temperatures, around 80°C to 120°C, which creates gentle, deeply penetrating heat.
Far infrared radiation technology is used in Sundirect panel heaters because it provides a healthy, energy-efficient and even heat distribution. The same technology is also often used in: infrared saunas, medical lamps, healthcare devices where gentle and deep heat is needed.
Low energy heating

The future lies in infrared heating. Because infrared radiation operates at a surface temperature of approximately 80-120°C, it creates the most comfortable heating conditions without creating a fire hazard potential.
Infrared heaters directly heat objects or bodies within their range, which means that the heat is stored for much longer, which in turn provides energy savings.
When using a heater with a thermostat, as soon as the desired room temperature is reached, the heater will automatically turn off!
Compared to electric conventional heaters, Sundirect infrared heaters save up to 60% energy. Also, Sundirect Infrared radiation efficiency reached 70.8%, according to the standard IEC60675-3
Internal heating element – the heart of every Sundirect heater

One of the most important factors that determines the quality, efficiency and longevity of an infrared panel is its internal heating element. This is where Sundirect stands out from the competition by offering advanced, top-of-the-line technology.
Unlike many manufacturers who purchase heating elements from external suppliers, Sundirect heating elements are manufactured in our own production line, ensuring complete quality control at every stage of production. This allows us to guarantee consistent performance, longevity and maximum energy efficiency.
Innovative carbon crystal technology
Most infrared panels on the market use conventional carbon fiber heating elements, which over time can create uneven heating, or so-called "hot spots." Sundirect goes a step further here by offering a unique carbon crystal technology developed using engineering techniques developed in Germany.
Thoughtful design improves efficiency

The slim design is very important for its efficiency. To round off the edge design of the panels, we use white aluminum or glass/mirror surface above the heating element.
All Sundirect panels use a heating element, insulation material and a reflection layer. Most competitors do not use insulation materials to facilitate the production stages, although this is one of the most important factors in the design field.
The panel uses 3mm thick fiberglass insulation, which reduces energy loss, thus creating energy savings, making our panels 7-8% more efficient.
Stable temperature and healthy humidity levels

One of the most important benefits of Sundirect infrared heaters is the even distribution of heat in the room and the preservation of a natural humidity environment, which significantly improves the indoor microclimate.
Unlike traditional convection heating, where warm air rises and cold air remains at the floor, Sundirect heaters maintain a uniform temperature throughout the entire height of the room. Measurements show that: the temperature difference between the floor and the ceiling is only 0.4-0.5 °C, and there are no uneven heating or "cold spots". This means that the entire room is heated evenly - from floor to ceiling, ensuring comfort and reducing heat loss.
Infrared radiation does not heat the air directly, but heats people, walls, furniture and other objects, which then gradually give off heat back into the room. This type of heat transfer: does not dry out the air, maintains an optimal and healthy humidity level of approximately 40–50%, helps avoid dry skin, irritated eyes and respiratory problems that often occur in rooms with central heating or electric radiators.

Infrared radiant heat is invisible light. Just as lights are placed to illuminate a room, infrared heaters radiate heat to directly warm the walls, floor, and ceiling of a room (“thermal mass”). Infrared radiation is completely safe, and in fact, it is the same wavelength that our bodies absorb and emit heat.
People are radiant objects. More than 60% of our sense of comfort or discomfort is determined by the gain or loss of heat we radiate. Only 15% of our sense of comfort is determined by air temperature and movement.
For most people, if the ambient temperature is higher than 26C or lower than 16C, they feel uncomfortable because we either gain or lose too much body heat.
So, if we warm the walls, ceiling and floor in the room we are in (not the air) to at least 17C and ideally to around 22C, our body will stop perceiving that we are losing heat and we will feel warm and comfortable.
Convenient-comfortable heating

Infrared panel heaters emit a very large amount of heat in the form of radiation.
in a way. They are on the same wavelength as the healthiest rays of the sun. Infrared panels heat objects directly, not the air (which convection heat does), thus giving you the best and coziest feeling of warmth. Compared to convection heaters, there is no air circulation and therefore no dust circulation. When using infrared panel heaters, the air does not dry out, creating a clean and healthy room climate.
The heating elements operate at relatively low temperatures, which means that SUNDIRECT infrared heaters do not emit emissions, dust, dirt, formaldehyde, toxic paint fumes, etc. This has made infrared heaters very popular among people with severe allergies and multiple chemical exposures. Several studies have shown that the use of infrared heaters is beneficial in the treatment of chronic health problems such as high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and rheumatoid arthritis.
Environmentally friendly and safe for the environment

lead-free materials. All Sundirect heaters are tested in approved certification laboratories and EMF emissions are 90% lower than current regulatory permits (CE, TUV, GS, SAA, ROHS, REACH certificates).
