Installation Recommendations for Interior Designers and Architects

1. Plan the heating system during the design stage
Plan the positioning of infrared panels together with lighting, furniture and other interior elements. This allows the heating system to be integrated into the space without compromising the visual design later.
2. Consider ceiling height and room geometry
Choose the panel positions according to the ceiling height, room shape and location of the heated zones to ensure even heat distribution.
3. Choose the most suitable installation option
Ceiling — a discreet solution that keeps wall space free.
Wall — allows the panel to be integrated into the interior both functionally and visually.
Portable solution — selected panel models can be used with floor stands, providing flexible heating without permanent installation.
4. Plan the heated zone and observe installation distances
The main heated zone should generally be planned approximately 3–4 m from the panel, depending on the panel model and output. The installation requirements for the specific panel model must also be followed, including the required distances from furniture, finishing materials and other interior elements.
5. Solutions for high ceilings
For rooms with high ceilings, the BC002 ceiling suspension kit can be used to suspend the panel at a suitable height. The kit includes 4 × 1 m suspension cables.
6. Integrate heating controls
Thermostats and smart controls allow individual control of the temperature and operating times for each room or heating zone. Up to 10 infrared panels can be connected to one Sundirect thermostat.
7. Determine heating output based on heat loss
The required heating output is determined according to the heat loss of the building and the individual room. The number, output and positioning of the panels are selected according to the calculated heating load.
8. Plan the electrical installation in advance
Plan the power supply points for the panels and the control components as part of the electrical design. This helps avoid visible wiring and maintains a clean, well-designed interior.

1. Determining the Required Heating Capacity

The required heating capacity is calculated separately for each room, taking into account:

🟧 ✓ Room area and ceiling height
🟧 ✓ Building insulation and heat loss
🟧 ✓ Number of external walls in the room
🟧 ✓ Window and external wall area
🟧 ✓ Whether infrared heating is intended as the primary or supplementary heating system

The more external walls and windows a room has, the greater the heat loss will generally be and, consequently, the higher the required heating capacity.

Indicative heating capacity:
Well-insulated buildings — approximately 50–70 W/m²
Buildings with higher heat loss — approximately 100–150 W/m²

The exact required heating capacity should be determined based on the heat-loss calculation for the specific building.

Recommendation: It is advisable to design the heating system with a small capacity reserve. This allows the room to heat up faster and provides additional capacity during colder periods. It does not mean permanently higher electricity consumption — once the set temperature is reached, the thermostat automatically regulates the heating.

2. Selecting the Panel Type and Placement

The number and placement of panels should be selected according to the room’s function, geometry and main occupied areas.

🟧 ✓ Wall panels — suitable where ceiling installation is not possible or where the panel is intended to be integrated into the interior design.
🟧 ✓ Portable panels — a flexible solution for individual rooms or supplementary heating.

3. Correct Panel Placement

Infrared heating transfers heat primarily to surfaces and people within the radiant zone. Therefore, not only the total heating capacity but also the positioning of the panels is important.

🟧 ✓ Position the panels so that they effectively cover the main occupied areas.
🟧 ✓ In larger rooms, distribute several panels evenly so that their radiant zones complement each other.
🟧 ✓ In typical residential rooms, the ceiling installation height is generally approximately 2.2–3.0 m.
🟧 ✓ Do not position a wall-mounted panel directly opposite a window. Part of the radiant heat will be directed towards the glass — a surface with relatively high heat loss. It is more effective to position the panel near an external wall or window area and direct the radiant heat towards the interior of the room.

4. Practical Example of Heating Capacity and Panel Placement

Living room — 25 m²
Calculated heating requirement — 70 W/m²
25 × 70 W = 1750 W

A possible solution — 2 × 900 W ceiling panels, positioned to provide even coverage of the main occupied areas.

ART infrared heaters - heating as an interior element

The ART Series combines infrared heating with individual interior design. An infrared panel can become a work of art, a photograph or a visually integrated interior element while retaining its full heating functionality.

Each ART panel is individually produced. The client selects an image and provides it as a digital file, while we prepare it for printing according to the selected panel size. The image is printed on a special heat-resistant UV film and applied to the surface of the infrared panel.
